A nice piece of news to mark my 1000th post on ZooChat!
Zoos Victoria recently released six captive-bred Eastern Barred Bandicoots into the wild. The Facebook post didn’t mention which zoo the bandicoots came from but considering natives are Healesville’s speciality I thought I’d place the news in this thread.

Zoos VictoriaSome very happy news to start your week: while the world has been at a standstill, our conservation work has been ongoing. Last week we released some Eastern Barred Bandicoots into the wild alongside our partners.
Captive breeding and release programs for critically endangered animals is a big part of why zoos exist, so days like this are what it is all about. Well done to Parks Victoria, Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning and Conservation Volunteers Australia, we’re proud to work with you!
