Hi Everyone,

I have just completed a 4 year course in Business studies (BA Hons) and am currently deciding upon a career. I am intrested in taking myself into the zoo industry. I have thought about the idea of animal enclosure design. How do I get into this? Any ideas? Also, anyone know of any possible careers within the zoo industry I could pursue? Ideas welcome please.
Many Thanks,
Tomzoo123

A degree in architecture would be good for exhibit design.

dam lol. Thats something Id love to do, designing enclosures, espeically as Zoos are becoming more and more conscious about how they should be, public opinion etc.

Many zoos have abusiness plan as well, the money has to come from somewhere after all. With the likes of development teams and so onthere's a possibility that a business qualification could be useful too. Working in zoos doesn't have to be directly with the animals! One thing I do oknow is that the pay isn't great in the zoo world, whichever line you're in. It's one of those career options you take from the point of passion. However, speaking from experience, money isn't everything and if you're getting immense pleasure from your job then that can make a huge difference as well!

Check the "Working with us" sections on many zoo websites and even ask around at your nearest zoo. Something I'm learning is that the zoo community is more than happy to help and talk to passionate individuals.

Good luck in getting a job and hope it works out!
