Catalogue of Penguins in Captivity Worldwide

Detroit Zoo recently obtained Chinstrap Penguins.
I'd like to see them but the penguin exhibit was closed for over a year when it turned out the contractor didn't do a very good job. I don't know if it would be open anyway but all the buildings are closed to the public these days.

I myself have seen African, Humboldt, Gentoo, King, Northern and Southern Rockhopper and possibly Macaroni.

It doesn't surprise me that the African and Humboldt appear to be the most common, what with them being more "tropical" species, if you will.

King, gentoo, macaroni, southern rockhopper, chinstrap, little blue, African, Humboldt, and Magellanic are the penguin species I have seen in the flesh. I kind of want to visit Seaworld San Diego just to see the emperor and Adelie penguins.

In 1973, Two penguins jumped onto a New Zealand fishing boat and one was bought by The Okhotsk Aquarium。In 1978,one people who lived in Wakkanai city, gave his pet Erect-crested penguin to the Okhotsk Aquarium
I said it wrong. Okhotsk aquarium only raised one erect crested penguin. This penguin is one of two erect crested penguins that jumped onto a fishing boat in New Zealand in 1973.

A Galápagos penguin has also been kept in captivity in Japan. This penguin was kept in Hamamatsu Zoological Gardens from September 1963 to July 1964,
It was kept in Ueno Zoo on July 29, 1964 and died in August 1969.

A few more African holders: Jenkinson's Aquarium, Long Island Aquarium, Animal Adventure Park, Wild Animal Park

Are all Little Blue Penguins/Fairy Penguins in the US Australian (E. novaehollandiae), or are there a few New Zealand (E. minor) scattered around?

Three eastern rockhopper penguins (Eudyptes chrysocome filholi) have hatched in Pairi Daiza. The eggs were obtained from Marineland Antibes. The eggs come from different couples, so they are not related to each other. The sex of the three youngsters is not yet known. they are now on display for visitors, together with the gentoo penguins already present. Marineland and Pairi Daiza are now the only two holders of this subspecies in Europe.
