A male Yellow Anaconda is now at Central Coast Zoo which is shown in a recent video. One of two known holders currently along with Darling Downs Zoo.

Red-handed Tamarins have also arrived at Central Coast Zoo joining Crocodylus, Darling Downs, Hunter Valley and Tasmania Zoo with this eye-catching species. The Barbary Sheep have also had a couple of lambs - reported on their FB page.

Today announced a Dumeril’s Boa, a new species. Unsure who else holds this species in the region.

Baboons! That’s cool… I wonder how many and where did they come from?
Looking at last year’s baboon population list, it appears Darling Downs Zoo had the following surplus, so they’re one possibility:
1.0 Horace (2018) born at Darling Downs Zoo
1.0 Seti (2019) born at Darling Downs Zoo
1.0 Julius (2021) born at Darling Downs Zoo
1.0 Jafar (2021) born at Darling Downs Zoo
The photos on Central Coast Zoo’s socials are insufficient to tell whether the baboons are females or young adolescent males bulking up (you wouldn’t expect to see full silvery capes on males these young).
Another possibility is Sydney Zoo.
Monocled Cobra is now off-show in their quarantine facility. Great news - reported on their FB page.

Are there no import/export restrictions or local vet / husbandry guidelines from Federal States' or central Government preventing their public exhibition or private holding(s)!
Exotic reptiles are prohibited for the general public.
What zoos hold, and can breed, is controlled by state government regulations, which differ from state to state.
Rhesus Macaques have now arrived and can be seen on-display via Amazement Farm and Fun Park - reported on their FB page.
Are these the ex circus monkeys? Or did they already have some on site? Does anyone know where theyve come from?
I believe they came from Get Wild Animal Experiences, which are opened by the same owners as Central Coast Zoo. It was first announced Central Coast Zoo would be opening a Rhesus macaque exhibit in 2023.
Likely ex circus monkeys as they have come from the private keeping sector. A lot of the regions exotic circus animals were retired in 2021 due to new laws that had come into place so it's likely a lot of those animals were then sold/moved onto other facilities.
Crab-eating Macaques are also now on-site as well- shown in a FB post.

Two pups were born in May to a female named Red and are being hand-raised. They can be seen via Amazement Farm and Fun Park.

Great news especially re. the Crab Eating Macaque birth.
I'd love to see this species return to more zoos regionally -especially for diversity's sake, we don't have many Asian primate species prevalent regionally aside from orangutans and gibbons.
I agree. Macaques make for a fascinating exhibit and even a small zoo can hold a sizeable troop without taking up too much space.
Apparently concerns over the risk of transmission of Hepatitis has influenced their phase out from government run zoos, most of which held at least one species of them throughout the 20th century.
