CENTRAL PARK ZOO VANDALISED. – Unoffensive Animal

Per this blog post, someone recently changed signs around the Central Park Zoo to read “Central Park Animal Prison”, and poured red paint at the zoo entrance to represent “the many deaths lost to this disgusting place after a life in prison”. They also changed a sign at the park that previously read “The Dairy” by adding “is cruel” to it.

Between this and Flacco, I’m not sure what makes the CPZ a particular hotspot for militant animal rights activists. I guess just being located in the middle of a big city makes it easier for them to access.

At any rate, it’s sad that there are so many people who think like this, and almost makes me embarrassed to call myself a vegan (of course, because I don’t think all zoos are bad, it’s not like these people would let myself call me one anyways).

Absolutely embarrassing. Yeah, that'll show the millions of people who visit Central Park Zoo, where that's their only window to the wild in an increasingly urbanized NYC, or the WCS, who made it a point to not only emphasize their conservation efforts at the city zoos but also drastically increase their global conservation efforts and work extensively with different communities on said conservation efforts. Utterly creatively bankrupt, cowardly, pretentious, and moronic. If Central Park Zoo's a prison, I'm Moe Howard.

I have observed vegan discourse on the internet for a while now...
One thing I don't appreciate which much of what I've seen is the lack of 'ideological elbow room' it seems to provide.
It seems that today anyone representing any particular social group is expected, perhaps compulsed by some to tick off all the various boxes set by other members of the group. So too with veganism.
And if you don't fit the mold of what makes a 'proper vegan'? Then it seems you're as bad as a carnivore.
I think this sort of gatekeeping as I have seen it hinders individual thought... which I personally don't find a great thing.

Urban areas like New York, San Francisco and LA are more likely to contain (good and bad) activists, and local attractiobs make easy targets for the more lazy and misguided ones who only need mom and dad to drop them off downtown for an afternoon to cause havoc, then go relax a safe but close distance away.

I didn't want to click on the link and drive traffic to this blog, but it's very curious that there's been no mention of this anywhere. I did a google news search for Central Park Zoo, for example, and got nothing. Same with on facebook, including for mentions of CPZ. Doing a google search, the only thing that popped up was the blog. Perhaps the blow that these folks think that they've struck for animal liberation doesn't seem to have resonated/gotten the attention they seem to think it has.

Where’s the security?
Last year it was the vandalizing of the Eagle Owl exhibit - ultimately, resulting in the death of the animal- and now ..
The WCS or the City - needs to fire and sue the security company for their laxity and lack of professionalism
Incompetent and inept
They need to cancel the contract Never been a prosecution bout against the vandal that killed the Uhu Uhu , internationally or nit

I clicked on it because I was really curious to see if the whole thing was fake. It looks real to me, but not anything park staff couldn't have cleaned up in less than an hour. Ultimately, no one seems to have cared, and to be honest it isn't really worth our time here, either.

For sure there are security cameras. This is very minor vandalism that has happened here, so I doubt anyone really cares to follow up on it besides cleaning it up.
The point I make is not so much about some mindless graffiti by some self serving ***** in need of attention and their “manifesto” but, rather, that there was the vandalism of the eagle owl exhibit that, ultimately, resulted in the death of that animal .
Was there NO security in that case -two years ago
Now no security camera for this , albeit, more minor incident.
No arrest ,prosecution nor conviction of anyone till this day on the theft and death of the eagle owl.
This is gross negligence on the part of the WCS security.
Shall we have a recurrence of the Polar bear killings that took place in Prospect Park - on the basis of a rumor- or shall someone “liberate” the snow leopards and grizzlies before adequate security is put in place .
This is a problem greater than graffiti

If there's no other references, it might be entirely possible the group made it up for attention to their cause? I have occasionally seen such behavior in other forms of activism.
