CHALLENGE: Create an interesting exhibit with a "boring" animal!

By "boring" I mean an animal the average zoo visitor (if the average zoo visitor can even be defined) would spend very little time looking at or reading about.

So these are virtually any animal except the ABC's (an ABC animal is the lion-zebra-giraffe-rhino-etc, also a not exact definition is possible here). And 95% of my ever dreamed animals (and the dreamed ones of most zoonerds that compose the majority of Zoochat) are just "boring animals" for the average zoo visitor.

Personally I'd enjoy that ;)
As a bird person, I would as well. However, birds in general do not attrect crowds and native birds are even less crowd pleasing. Tje only bird species I have ever seen general public interest is is penguins, southern screamers, bald eagles, amd one VERY active and outgoing red-crested turaco.

Mixed exhibit of oriental white-backed vulture (Gyps bengalensis), long-billed vulture (Gyps indicus) and slender-billed vulture (Gyps tenuirostris)
in a half acre 90 ft high aviary. The aviary would have 2-3 of those giant fans
that dudes simulate skydiving (hidden) so the vultures could soar. Inside the exhibit would be a fake cow that the birds could be fed from PLUS a burial platform
(without a fake dead guy). The exhibit would educate about the dangers
of diclofenic and the job of vultures in India and elsewhere and why they went
from common to endangered in such a short span. Plus breeding platforms
of course.
And some red footed tortoises so Zoochatters could say how bizarre that is :)

I WOULD SING YOUR PRAISES FROM INDIA TO VEGAS FOR THIS EXHIBIT.

Best exhibit ever.

Every zoo needs like 5 of these.

Most definitely I'd say. I've seen a lot of emotions from people in insect houses, but bored isn't usually one of them!

Okay then, the idea I have is for multiple small rhino beetle exhibits with names above them, along with an arena in the center for beetle fights, keepers in the exhibit would talk about how beetles battle for mating rights along with talking about the competing beetles

Long ago I dreamt an exhibit called Himalayan valley. It would have two long artificial rocky slopes and visitor walkway in between. It would have 3 open paddocks on each side, and house Asian black bears, snow leopards, some wild goat, some wild sheep, yak, musk deer and bar-headed geese. At one end visitors could go past a waterfall which would supply animal moats, climb to the top of the rocks and look at the whole zoo from above. Maybe there would be a lift hidden in rocks, too.

I like this, but there are a few things that would make it even better. You could add aviaries with appropriate pheasant, crane (Demoiselle, Black-necked), Ruddy Shelduck, Golden Eagle and passerine (Red-billed Blue Magpie, Leiothrix, Alpine/Red-billed Chough, Raven, Lanceolated Jay) species, Rhesus Macaques and Yellow-throated Martens. Slaty-headed Parrakeets.

You and me must have completely different concept of what is a "boring" animal... Especially, a lanceolated jay would be enough to me for plan a visit to the country where is the zoo that holds this dreamed species!!!

Sorry, none of these are boring, all very exciting. There are only two boring species in the world, and even they're not THAT boring...
