Chambered nautilus getting hunted to extinction

Thanks for bringing it to our attention David. Although I have seen these offered in several countries I had always assumed, wrongly, that they were from sustainable sources. I can understand why they are so collectable, because to me they are a true work of art, but nothing compares to the actual living creature. The figures quoted in the article for the USA are truly alarming, and I for one will spread the word about these amazing animals and the predicament that man, once again, has put them in.

Thanks much for the feedback Mike. This seems like an issue that the aquariums (and zoos with nautilus) of the world could do a great deal to help inform people about, and hopefully help stop the nautilus massacre.

I hope they can be protected. I remember seeing these guys in Riverbanks Zoo (I think it was) or Columbia Zoo and I was fascinated by these living relics.
