Changes to Entry and other requirements for visitors to UK zoos from Monday 19th July.

We've established that Paignton are now admitting walk-in visitors on the day, although they still advise booking. Most of the other UK zoos' websites say pre-booking is still essential, but I am not sure just how up to date those messages really are.

Is anyone finding they can do 'normal'( with no booking required) visits again anywhere?

I was very frustrated last week when I visited the south west, with the weather, the fuel shortages and my crap phone/internet service. I would have visited Paignton, but couldn't get a clear enough signal to complete a booking which I thought was mandatory. I went to Escot Wildwood having only needed to book a timeslot, but even that turned out to be unnecessary.

I was looking into Cotswold WP last night and they are saying booking online saves money with a note that they cannot guarantee entry without pre-booking during school holidays, so it appears that in term-time at least you're safe to turn up without a booking.

Yes, booking online seems to save a pound or so. In some cases its as if they are trying to discourage just turning up, by not actually saying that you can..

Paignton announced yesterday that "We will not be taking any more walk-ins today due to high visitor numbers. Please pre-book your tickets for the rest of the week to avoid disappointment."
