Four cheetah cubs were born at Western Plains in October of last year. The four cubs, two female and two male are the first litter for mother Asali, who was also born at Western Plains.
Interesting thing is that the two female cubs are King Cheetahs.
Article from the latest ZooNews mag.

Does this mean that Asali was mated to her father?

Og sorry, thought I put it on the original post. The father isa male called Masuka. Rhe article says that both are carrying the gene.

Six cubs in two years isn't a bad effort. I wouldn't be surprised if there are more this year. The cubs should be close to going on display soon as they were born late last year.

The cheetah studbook is available online so it's possible to trace the ancestry of the cubs parents. The closest known relationship between the breeding pair is that of 3rd cousins once removed. There are also a number of wild caught animals in the recent ancestry which may or may not have been related. What the studbook doesn't show is if the king genes have appeared before this and in which line. I'd be interested to know this.
The photos in the mag are gorgous.

They have done well though it was a shame that mother of the two cubs from 2008 died. I assume by your comment that there are other potential breeding females at Dubbo. Is one a sister of female that has just given birth?

I just found out about these cubs from doing a YouTube search on king cheetah. Didn't know about this so I searched on ZooChat for this thread. But there are no photos of the kings in the Western Plains gallery. Does anyone out there in Australia have photos they can post?

The video also says they are the only king cheetahs in Australia, but I thought there was one in western Australia imported a couple years ago? Can anyone confirm or deny?

As far as I know there have never been any in Wstern Australia. there was one in Canberr which passed away, Kidney problems I believe. I'm not sure if the kings are on display anymore, they had to be taken off exhibit for a short time but they may be back by now. Jay to answer yourquestion I don't think we will see another litter now for a while. As a breeder was sent to monarto.

Thanks Jakari, what does that leave at WP now? The two litters and the parenst of the second litter?

Does anyone know what the name of the cubs are? I haven't been able to find an info of them apart from the press release on their birth.

Were you refering to the latest litter or the previous hand raised litter? I make it my job to know as much as possible about the place,
