Does anyone know how many pudu are in the old kangaroo enclosure? Just the one (along with the two anteaters)?

Where did you see that news? Apposing have been working on it for what seems like an age, and I've a nasty feeling it's going to be restricted to iSheep© using the iPhone.

I never even saw your photo.

I went today and the zoo was quite busy.

Saw the tiger cubs at about 10.10 racing around the enclosure.

The tragopan avaries are now offshow.

The roller got evicted from the hamerkop nest while I was in Tsavo aviary watching the guineafowl.

Judging by the size of one of the buffalo, it won't be long before there is a calf on show.

Lots of gardeners around, but no keepers.

Two families asked me for directions, saying they couldn't follow the map.

Chuck and his mum are doing very well, and they take a keen interest in the hordes of small children, whose only aim in life seems to be to get close to a T.rex.

It's a shame about these aviaries, I'm happy I saw them before they were took off-show.

If only one pudu is in the anteater enclosure, I suspect the other two will join them in the future unless there is a problem with one of them (e.g. fighting, problem with the baby).

There is a barcode to scan on smartphones that takes you to the App Store/Google Play.
 
Having seen the picture from JR in the gallery, it looks like there is more than one Pudu in with the anteaters - the one I saw looked older than the one posted, which looks rather young to me. Hopefully it's a permanent move, they really are lovely animals and it's nice to have something else to see when the Anteaters aren't out, which unfortunately has been the case every single time I have visited the exhibit.

It's possible that JR's photo was taken of the youngster which they had last year - It does like a youngish specimen.

The app appears to not yet be released - but if you look in the bottom corner of the Apposing piece, there is a section saying 'Android app development', 'GPS' and 'iPhone App Development', which are lists of apps - Chester's features in all three.

The anteater enclosure seemed empty when I looked this morning, but I had other things on my mind so I wasn't looking all that closely. My priority was to see a mammal from Africa which has hooves, horns and stripes.

Forgot to mention earlier that the cassowaries were taking an interest in each other.

If I'd of knew when I visited a few weeks ago, seeing the Black rhino setup and the Mammal you mention would of been my main priority too.
 
Now little cassowaries really would be something to see!

I don't like "Apposing", it sounds like one of those words people use when they really mean to use another one!

Cassowary chicks would be something special, the first for a number of years (nine years, Paignton I think, in 2003) - On that note, would the Bird team/keepers incubate the eggs if they were produced? I know they do this with some Flamingos/Penguins, just wondering.

I believe you may have made a mistake here but they is three anteaters at the Zoo, the adult pair and the young male (offspring of the adult pair, Bliss X Pedro).

[PS : The third anteater would be 'Pepe' - is 'Pedro' actually in the old 'roo exhibit? I recall him not moving in alongside the other two.]

I have heard people saying that they have seen him in the Kangaroo exhibit, not 100% sure if that is true.

Yup - Pepe was born in August was it? Pedro is his sire/father/dad what ever you want to call him.;)

The aviarys are not just off-show but empty.

Also the other Pudu should be stopping were they are and another one brought in to go with the one with the Giant Anteaters.

Also its only 2 Giant Anteater not 3!!

Thanks for confirming the anteater mystery, is the pudu currently in with the anteaters last years baby by any chance? If so, Chester will hold two pairs.

Last I heard was yes Chester did plan on having more than 1 pair of Chilean Pudu,just like they plan on keeping more tham 1 pair of a few species in which they currently only have 1 pair!
