Back on topic... great news about the black vultures! They made such a lovely devoted couple and I'm sure he/she (whichever was left) was lonely. I hope it and the newcomer hit it off :)

Not sure if this has been noted on here, but Derbyan Parakeets are back on exhibit outside the Elephant house, and are joined in their aviary by Lady Amherst's Pheasants, of which I saw 1 male.

Also spotted today was Goldfish in the pond outside the Elephant House, does anybody know how long they have been in this pond?

There are 1.2 Lady Amherst's Pheasnats sharing the aviary with the parakeets, the pheasant speicies has been housed there for several years.

The new Rhino calf (Malindi's) has been named Dakima, meaning "The joy of living"

...lovely news on Orla's new arrival btw :D

MALINDI was born at Magdeburg to MADIBA (WILD born 1996) and MANA (born at Magdeburg 1981)

Thanks BjoernN. I have rather lost track of which rhino is which at Chester as I know they have had several imports to add to their breeding nucleus.
