Did you notice if the Rock Hyrax enclosures were empty or not, they looked empty last week and all signage had been removed.
 
That`s great news about the tiger cubs, in the last years, most sumatran tiger cubs have been male. There must be a big shortage of young females by now.

I am the only one getting bored with little variation from ethnic/geographically correct names being offered to give animals nowadays. Can't we have have an occasional Kenny, Wagstaff or Cadbury?

I'd have voted for "Toni", it fits the Chester theme of animal names having to end in an 'a' or an 'i' and it'd be a name I can remember. In its absence, Ashme seems to be the logical protest vote...

Oh, but I don't have a Facebook account, so it's pointless thinking about it.

Why not? Who gets to rule which names aren't unisex?:)

Besides, if you want to take that stance, why are Izi (meaning 'waves'), Miri ('storm wind') and Suena ('moon') female?

Is the zoo open to the public on Christmas Day?
It does say 'open every day' on the web site, just a little surprised it includes Christmas Day.
As we are on our own this year a visit to see cubs would be a welcome addition to our day!

They are closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
