Saw the cheetah cubs today, very happy to see them out again.
Was a bit concerned to see one of them had a very pronounced limp, hope all is ok with him and he recovers soon.

A few quick notes I noticed today while walking round the zoo,all the signage for the Red Bird of Paradise has been removed, another Fruit Dove has appeared in the aviary with the Sunbittern in the Tropical Realm, sorry I'm not up on my fruit dove id's to tell people which species. The Jaguar House looks to be very near ready to re-open.Also spotted a male Asian Tree Toad in Mountain Horned Dragon exhibit in Realm of the Red Ape.Also the sign for the Rock Hyrax is still there if you go the correct way round,I believe the sign that was in the middle of the 2 exhibits was only a temporary sign.

That's a surprise! Can you tell us where they've gone? We'd adopted the RBoPs, due to run out at the end of this month, so it's a good job I hadn't got round to renewing it yet!

Probably because they left the collection earlier this week...

interested to hear today that the zoo is trying to mix Sophia and Pele the Jaguars, which could free up the rainforest enclosure.......obviously this will depend on how the cats react to each other but fingers crossed

This doesn't mean that it will free up a enclosure, they could run them together with them having the choice of being inside or out, just like the other 2 Jaguars currently have!

Chester Zoo

Does this mean Red Birds of Paradise have left the collection?

also the Jaguar house is back open, although the new exhibits aren't yet populated. Coro and Bonita were very active indoors on the Savannah side.

There was a male Black-naped Fruit Dove in that aviary today and it's not the one from RotRA as a pair were present there as usual.
Spirit of the Jaguar was open but no new animals present as yet, they should be introduced within the next month. General layout hasn't changed much other than the large fish tank but all of the reptile/amphibian exhibits have been removed.
Tiger cubs have grown alot since our last visit and one seems to have taken to climbing.
It was alot busier than we were expecting thought most people would be shopping.

This has already been posted on here by myself after I had read it in the the members magazine.I have no problems with them returning as it brought in a large amount of additional income for the zoo, which the zoo can put towards the building of Islands, which I think will surprise a few people when its finished.

Just curious as to why you say Islands will 'surprise' people??? We have seen very sketchy idea of what the exhibit will be like, can you expand on this??? Very interested to find out more!!

I'm afraid I cannot expand on it any further, except that I don't think it will be what many people expect Chester to build!
