I'm planning a trip for myself to the zoo sometime this week and the cheapest option is coach but it doesn't depart from the zoo until 17:15 and it closes at 16:00 doesn't it?

Just wondering is the whole zoo shut or will the cafe be open? If not, is there somewhere sheltered outside I could wait?

The Bembe Cafe at the zoo entrance is open till half 4...
 
I went Monday and saw sophia properly for the first time ,what a stunning Jaguar beautiful markings on her coat
Had a surprise the keepers locked her in and put out some food I waited for her to come out to find it and pele came out instead !
They must have swapped them round!
Looking forwards to seeing them together apparently that's the long term plan:)

Not as much of a surprise as I had when all of that happened in the five minutes during which I went to look at the changes in the building. Bloomin' typical. :rolleyes:
 
oh bugger - have the high winds taken their toll? It blitzed my garage roof last night so the gusts must have been up around 80mph at points in the night! :O(
 
It may have been but the zoo's Facebook has said that it's due to putting up new feeding areas, trees and something to do with the lights.
 
I've now read the Facebook message:

"We're about to start some maintenance work on Fruit Bat Forest, putting in new trees, feeding areas and making slight changes to the lighting. The work means the house will be closed for the next four weeks but we'll be sure to let you know when it reopens."

so I think no is the answer! Just my flippin garage roof then!!! grr
 
Tapir seems to be a girl called Talia which strikes me as a bit of a dainty name for when she grows into a big tapir!
 
We nicknamed her 'rapid' after a small error with predictive text.

I have a few pics of her outside, but the fence wasn't co-operating.
 
I know it's geeky but apparently there is a Babylon 5 theme in the Tapir names.

OK so Talia is easy = Talia Winters a character
Jennifer was one of the shows advisors I think
Not sure about Cuzco tho!!

Not the strongest theme I've ever heard of! But there are only 3 of them :D

Cuzco is a city in south eastern Peru and was the capital city of the Incas.

The Babylon 5 theme has been used for a while now.
 
The tigers will be offshow tomorrow for some work can be carried out in their enclosure, the tropical realm will also be closed on the 11th January.

I havent looked inside the building yet
I rarely go inside tho, prefer to see the Jaguars outside :)
 
I should think so but the zoo's Facebook page quoted this:

"It's that time of year when we have some routine maintenance work underway. As such, the tigers will be off show today and tomorrow (Jan 7) so we can carry out some works in their enclosure. The Tropical Realm will close for the day on January 11 for some works there too. Thanks for your understanding".

Sorry I misunderstood your post.

There is no link between Cuzco and Babylon 5. Cuzco was born in 1991 and Babylon 5 was first shown in 1993.
