That's quite a shame that they weren't mentioned, as there are plenty of places they could get them from and they'd fit quite nicely.

In regards to this query, what birds of paradise do people reckon would fit well with Islands, and/or are realistically possible for Chester to acquire?

I am aware that they kept Red BOPs until not long ago, but I personally would like to see King, Raggiana or Greater or Lesser, Twelve-wired, Superb (maybe), Wilson's (maybe) and Red or Magnificent BOPs, together with maybe Trumpet or Glossy-mantled Manucodes, Brown Sicklebills and Magnificent Riflebirds in the collection. Not necessarily all of these, but a fair few at least!!
 
The zoos current (none breeding) group of 4.1 Painted Dogs were all relocated to Dudley Zoo yesterday. Hopefully this means a potential breeding group will replace them at Chester

Any reason why they all left? (over represented?)

Is it good practice to introduce dogs to neutral territory?
 
They were sent over from Kolmarden in 2011 as a none breeding group - both females spayed. The intension was always to exchange them from a breeding group when the EEP situation allowed

I can vaguely remember it being mentioned that the males were from an accidental litter and were inbred (hence why they given to Chester as a starter pack)
 
Current Western chimps @ Chester are:
Males - Boris, Wilson, Friday, Dylan, Eric, Carlos
Females - Rosie, Farthing, Mandy, Sally, Layla, Zee zee, Patti, Tina
& obviously the 2 females that arrived middle of last year (Kiki & Vela I think they are called) although they certainly aren't in with the main group
 
I believe 20 in total counting the 2 females who don't seem to be in the main group however the last 2 times I've visited at the end of May & earlier this month I couldn't see 2 of the males Nicky & Friday
 
Chester don't seem to announce chimp deaths & the info boards are way out of date so it is difficult to say 100%. 2 of the older females died last year halfpenny & Heidi both had been at the zoo for around 40 years yet their was no mention.
 
Also interesting to know they are still attempting introduction into the group. The group dynamic has seemed to change / be changing so much over the last couple of years with young males starting to come of age so to speak, older more dominant females dieing, 4 females leaving & 2 new females introductions being started.
