They were all open on Saturday with sponge baths to walk through before entering and when leaving! What exhibits are currently closed due to the current bird flu precautions? Are the whole of the tropical realm and monsoon forest off display?
I only got to the Tropical House; but as zoogiraffe says, it was fully open and there were mats soaked in disinfectant at all the entrances and exits. What exhibits are currently closed due to the current bird flu precautions? Are the whole of the tropical realm and monsoon forest off display?
Likewise at the Tsavo Aviary. The bird team was discussing bio security measures a couple of weeks ago, so additional precautions include changes of clothing (for keepers) as they move between locations and aviaries.I only got to the Tropical House; but as zoogiraffe says, it was fully open and there were mats soaked in disinfectant at all the entrances and exits.

Interesting, though I can't see any other reason too bring in a male the same age almost as the youngest of the two otters the zoo currently has, if am not mistaken. Otherwise I imagine the zoo would have been fine with just the mother and daughter for a while longer. That all very much depends on whether or not the studbook has relaxed the breeding-freeze on the species imposed due to lack of space, I suspect!

I'm presuming the 2 Eutropis species are in Monsoon forest, but where are the anoles? dragons in danger? Also, are the skinks free-roaming in the section with the sunda gharial, as i'm sure i've heard that plan mentioned somewhere, or are they elsewhere?Right had a little visit to Chester and much to my surprise I saw another 3 species that are now on-show but not labeled !
273) Graham's Anole (Anolis grahami)
274) Bronze Skink (Eutropis maculria)
275) Oriental Brown-sided Skink (Eutropis multifasiata)
Nope mixed in the herp vivs near the Macaques, the Anoles are in Tropical realm!Thought this was worthy of the news thread:
