Just to clear up some things about the new Rainbow aviaries:

- There is a pair of Cabot's tragopans. The old male may well still be in the aviary by the bush dogs (the sign is still up even though we only saw a red-billed blue magpie in there today).
- Just saw one blue-crowned laughingthrush in there.
- No sign of the collared partridge.
- Assumedly there is a pair of liocichla just like there was in the former aviaries on the Rainbow Lawn.
- There is one red-tailed laughingthrush I think (the one formerly in with the Schalow's turacos in Tropical Realm).
- There is a pair of grey-winged blackbird.
- There is at least one Reeves' pheasant (a male).
- There are a pair of collared grosbeak (so possible different to the old male TLD mentioned).
- There are a pair of Temminck's tragopan.

Boris is back!! :D finally seen him after forever! This of course means that Vila is integrated into the group, and I can confirm this as I saw her in with the rest today :) she looked at ease.
what's a Boris? Or a Vila for that matter?

I'm visiting the zoo tomorrow after a few weeks. If there is anything that you want me to look out for or try and get information on, let me know!

I would like an update on the sloth enclosure to see if anything is happening to it and when the sloths will likely be out their thanks.

I meant the occipital blue pies (or red-billed blue magpies if you prefer the trendy modern name, probably devised by people who couldn't spell 'occipital'); there was at least one in that aviary with the old male Cabot's tragopan last time I looked in there.
That's the species that has moved.

@Charlie Simmomds the sloth enclosure still isn't finished. The hatches are there but no passage for the sloths to go between the indoors and outdoors. No news as of yet but it's likely to be during Easter or possibly summer.

I will be in the zoo today as well and will be happy to help answer questions. :)

Baby Bornean orangutan born at 11:45am today to Sarikei and Willie; the latter's first offspring and Sarikei's second offspring currently living at Chester along with eight year old son Iznee. Keepers have yet to go near but baby seems healthy and is being looked after well by mum and brother.

What great news! Always great to hear about orang births! ( of course you saw it silly me) how was the view of the baby.

Not good, Sarikei was offshow during my earlier visit in the day (which was around about 2:30ish, so a couple hours after birth) but sitting on the ledge at the back behind some netting at the end of the day on my second passing through, with Iznee nearby. Saw the baby but camera was dead at that point so no photo I'm afraid!!

Excellent news. Willie has proved himself and Sarikei has been a very good mother in the past. Incidentally it will be interesting to see if she does the same with this baby that she did with Iznee: for extra security when he small, if she was moving around she held his hand in her mouth.

Particularly good as both Willie's parents are wildborn, making him a very important male needed to propagate.
