not strictly a building but the monorail is to be decommissioned in the near future.
I Wonder were the giraffe will go hopefully a mixed exhibit with the zebra
I believe that is the plan. I would love to see the area of the giraffe house become an expanded SWOTO with more Congo animals.

The monorail definately needs to be replaced with something a bit more efficient that serves as a transport system and not a novelty railway. I think at any one time 4 monorails are on the track, each with 4 carriages, which carry I think 6 people each. So at anyone time only about 90 people can be transported, which would be fine if the rail was quick. But it's painfully slow. The zoo is large and growing - I have copies of a few master plans dating from 2007 onwards. One planned to turn the land east of Caughall road into a grasslands exhibit, another for elephants. Not sure what the latest one shows. But either way if the full 450 acres owned by the company are developed, theyll need something with decent capacity and speed.

What exhibits are currently off show then ?

What are the exhibits being built to be open early 2018 according to their website and what's the other Exhibit labelled coming soon due to be?

Are the Lemur's now in the old Tiger / Sun Bear / Binturong enclosure ?

(1) The penguin exhibit, the giant otter outdoor enclosure and the former tiger/sun bear/European aviary area are closed to the public.

(2) The redeveloped penguin exhibit is due to reopen in early 2018, as is the giant otter outdoor viewing (which is not being redeveloped afaik but is needed for construction site access). The area labelled 'coming soon' will be the new lemur/fossa exhibits.

(3) No

Thanks

The bit under development in Islands is the tree kangaroo and pademelon enclosure, opening next yrear.

There are no lemurs in the old tiger/sun bear/aviary area because it is a building site. the lemur walk through opens in October 2018

are the zoo improving the giant otter enclosure aswell or is it just shut for building access reasons

Nice to know the date for opening of the lemur walkthrough Rob. Where did you find that out because I can't find it.

That is a technical point :D

The conures are not in the parrot breeding centre, but in the new aviaries to the south of the parrot breeding centre. Unless you know different GentleLemur.
