I have just checked the council's planning website and there haws be no such application in the past 3 years. That doesn't surprise me as I don't think permission should be required: several years the whole enclosure was netted, so that must have approved at some stage. A new aviary structure is merely a replacement for that netting, albeit after a relatively long interval.
So are the capuchins on show & is the island outside Tropical realm not empty?
I don't recall the enclosure being netted, when was that? There aren't really any structures being built for the redeveloped aviary, the flamingo house remains and other than that there's just a new viewing window.

Not onshow and not likely to go on show. As I believe they are on the surplus list.
Any one help please what is the history on the Sun Bittern from 2003 to present day please?
History in terms of what exactly? Breeding history or where they have been in the zoo? For the latter I know they are in the Tropical Realm (or at least were).
Really looking as to when they were kept at the collection as I have the history up to 2003 and I know they were in the Tropical Realm in 2017 as I have photographs but have nothing in between so if anyone can help I would be extremely grateful

will be visiting on the 11th with my nephew and was wondering which mammal species they have on show at the moment.
As a bird lover myself I never really take much notice of what other species are around, I will stop and look at many species but don't take much notice of the names unless I take a photograph of them.
So any help would be extremely welcome so as my nephew will know what to expect.

Many thanks for your efforts will note these down so as to try and not miss any on this visit as it will be bird free unfortunately.
If visiting early try and do Butterfly walk through first then Jaguar House and then Realm of the Red Ape as these will quickly get cue's.
Would anyone have any information on the history of the howler monkeys at Chester please?
I believe they arrived in 2012 and there are currently 2 females and 1 male.
Has there always been the same 3 individuals? Have they ever bred at Chester?
On my last visit the area was not accessible due to social distancing restrictions.
Also, Scimitar Oryx which were at Chester, why did this species leave the collection-I used to really like these and does anyone know what happened to the herd or where they went?
Any finally, the giant anteaters at Chester-I managed to catch one from a distance last week-do they still have the female (Bliss) and the male which came from South Lakes a few years back.
They have not been successful with the anteaters breeding at Chester over the past 10 years or so-the last birth must be around 10 years ago now?

Does anyone know what the situation with reciprocal members visiting Chester is please? As in - we would normally be able to visit with our Colchester passes once a year. We will be visiting for Lanterns and I am not sure if we need to buy a day ticket or can book a 'members' time slot (it will be a Saturday). Couldn't see anything in their FAQ's so thought I'd check here while I wait for them to respond to my query.
