Chester Zoo Chester Zoo Discussion and Questions 2022

(An additional and possibly irrelevant note - the woman behind me in the queue for the restaurant looked and sounded exactly like Barb from Stranger Things)

Good Ol' Barb has taken up residence in Cheshire of course. Who wouldn't when they have one of the worlds best zoos!

I think she's still waiting for Hawkins to find her...or at least anyone at this point.

I know, right? It was insane - completely insane.

Anyway, back on subject, I don't know what everyone else's experience was (if anybody here went), but there were probably some people who had been waiting for an hour.

And the issue is, by the time most people were done queuing, there was only an hour left of the whole thing, so you couldn't see the rest of the zoo. The poor staff were working their socks off - there was a thing where our order got mixed up with a bunch of other people's because there were just so many. Some people were getting really mad about it - people who don't respect people in the service industry, but I digress...

I enjoyed it overall, but I think there are some errors that need fixing before they do it again - firstly, put the timetable and location of the live entertainment so people can plan their routes a bit more and, secondly, find a more efficient way of getting people processed when it comes to food.

Sort of what they do with Lanterns.

I think it is a bit mean that they didn't allow members to enter this, as part of their membership. Not so long ago they were pleading for us to keep our Direct Debits going, as they had no income at all.

I absolutely hate this attitude when I see people moaning about it on zoo facebook pages. It is stated on the website that free entry is available all yaer round within normal hours. Be grateful for that will ya.

Yes it would be nice to be included, but it's a way to make more money for the zoo and if members got it for free, due to the number of members, it would make hardly any extra income, and maybe even cost the zoo with the extra overheads.

Can anyone tell me how many Sumatran Orangutan youngsters there are now?

I know Subis has Tuti (2012), Siska (2015) and Arga (2019). And then Emma has Kesuma (2017). I know Emma had another around July 2021, does anyone know the name/sex?

The youngster’s name is Hillda.

You can do either although booking online is slightly cheaper.

Was open last Monday - Wednesday. They were doing work on the pathway up to it, with scaffolding stairs up to it. Have you checked the App? Sure you don't have to go up to the disabled walkway?

The scaffolding stairs end was shut off with a "closed" sign on Thursday. I was short on time at this point, so perhaps there was another entrance point.

hi on the app it says the indoor aviaries are still closed due to avian flu. not sure how often the app is updated maybe they have reopened now ?
