Chester Zoo Chester Zoo Discussion and Questions 2024

Does anyone have the link to the HofA planning application?
All the zoo's planning applications are listed in the link below. I presume that you mean the artist(ic development) previously known as Grasslands, it is Ref. No: 19/01067/FUL near the bottom of the list. Note that new plans have been submitted for the visitor accommodation, which are yet to be approved. The original (unbuilt) Heart of Africa biodome is higher up of course.

The plans for the accommodation are generally approved, just some ammendments, specially as alot of the lodges are in place and work on the main building is quite far along.

They are waiting on approval for the education building, that replaces the restaurant in HoA.

The zoo has sent out emails asking you to register interest in the overnight lodges.

On the email there is a picture of a Zebra, I wounder if they will have some zebra mixed with the bachelor herd. Maybe the male when not mixed with the female zebra.

There is a ungulate house next to the bachelor giraffe house with access to that paddock, but no mention as to what species will use it.

I think the ungulate house is for the blesbok. I believe they have been breeding off show so there may be up to six of them now.

Some of the loaches and barbs and Kutubu rainbows and gouramis were donated by yours truly earlier this year.

The enclosure also contains several hundred Siamese Flying Foxes (Crossocheilus oblongus) and a solitary Filament Barb (Dawkinsia filamentosa).

Nice thanks for the info :)
