Chester Zoo Chester Zoo discussion and questions 2025

I believe the dwarf mongoose are going in the previous aardvark enclosure in HoA. Not sure if these were the mongoose which were between the stable block and the Madagascar cafe before all the work on the stable block. Also, there will be 2 new aviaries, one with lovebirds and the other with Verreaux's Eagle Owls and there will be 150 greater flamingoes in the first main aviary on the left before the Tsavo enclosure.

150 will be a spectacle, what sizes is the other group of flamingos in the zoo for comparison

hi, going to Chester after 5 years from my last visit, what's the optional route to walk around the zoo in order to see near enough everything? also, is there anything at the zoo that might be easily missed?

Bush Dogs are in the old round enclosure which is now offshow.
Just down from the Pademelons and cheetah the path is blocked off. They are brhind the wooden panels.

If I’ve got the right enclosure isn’t it pretty small for them is it the enclosure with the barriers leaning into the enclosure at the top and stone wall at the bottom?

That's the one, I don't know how many they have now, and they may have access to other areas. Chester's first Bush Dogs were housed there.

It'd be nice for them to go back on show soon, I do wonder if they'll move the last cheetah back though once the painted dogs return to their old enclosure since AFAIK its quite an elderly individual.

If so perhaps Chester could introduce a wolf species at the current wild dog enclosure. It would be an interesting sight that area is planned to be somewhat european themed.
