Unfortunately, Dublin is one of the collections which has been removed from the reciprocal entry scheme in recent years.

It might be worth contacting Dublin Zoo directly to see if it is. Highland Wildlife Park is not on Chester's list, but they have told me they are still part of the scheme.

When I renewed my pass at Colchester the terms and conditions part states access to the following zoos;
Belfast, Bristol, Dublin, Edinburgh, Highland Wildlife Park, Rotterdam, Twycross, Chester (1 visit only per year), Marwell Wildlife (1 visit only per year), Newquay (1 visit only per year), Living Coasts (1 visit only per year) and Paignton (1 visit only per year).

I am assuming it will be the same for Chester

Chester members no longer have free admission to Dublin, it's always puzzled me why some zoos do and Chester does not.

And htat was in the days of children having half price admission.the days before UK tourist attractions screwed visitors for every penny they could get.

@North Entrance if people did follow numbers numbers 16 to 116 finally returning to numbers 1 – 14!, they would completely miss out on seeing Islands and the Jaguar House. :D

I assume that the access to other zoos is an agreement between the zoos management teams so perhaps if one management team doesn’t agree to the terms the other has set or simply there has been a clash of personalities or management styles then no agreement will be in place between the zoos?

As I alluded above, until a few years ago the Chester membership *did* provide reciprocal entry to Belfast, along with Fota, Dublin, Rotterdam and Woburn. When the removal of these collections from the scheme was queried, members were told that this was because of a change in tax law regarding collections not owned by charities or found within the UK, as opposed to those run by charitable organisations, and that as such all the collections in the overall reciprocal scheme would be legally required to remove these collections from their list.

However, as I understand it the only collections which *did* fully withdraw from the scheme were Woburn and Fota - many of the other collections in the scheme still provide reciprocal entry to the remaining removals.....

Working in the industry albeit on the designer side, I have to defend the contracts here (even though I find them sometimes a pain to work with).

Thats not the case at all, plus if the client is clever they will insist on late completion penalties in the contract.

Also winter is the worse time for the construction and our weather does a good job of hampering construction works, but Chesters season is the summer so they have to try and get construction jobs done in the winter which often delays things.

See less than 5 miles away from the zoo but only been once this year. :( struggle for the time and my general dislike of visiting the place in the summer.

Very random - if it was a legal obligation, you would have expected that all would adhere to it.

Just my experience - as a contracts manager, I am constantly being told about builds being delayed and completion dates being extended. I don’t think I can name a single recent project which has run to schedule.

We do work for armed forces....so cannot be delayed as it starts to impact on them.

But yes on other stuff I have worked on in the past it can run on. I suppose depends on type of work and contracts in play.
 
Anyone know what other improvements are taking place in islands. There is construction equipment at the entrance end, can't be for the tree kangergoo as they can't get over the bridge.
