Chester Zoo Chester Zoo Discussion, Speculation & Questions 2019

I would suggest that you watch secret life of the zoo again, atleast 3 species this site hasn't full realised the zoo has used as a clip to trail from one story to another.

I could've sworn I spotted a fossa in one of the said links.... ;)

As for how credible the video is given that there zoning information is about 2 years out of date I would say not very,as there is no South American zone under current zones there is a Foothills and Flood Plains and a Forest Zone and of course a Grasslands exhibit which is a restaurant with a exhibit for Giraffes and a few other hoofstock !!!

I think I saw a mongoose of some description in the first episode shown this year but not even 100% sure it was a mongoose! I suspect this is one of the species you refer to?

Okay you have picked up on 2 of the 3,one of which will be on show IF the soft opening of Madagascar happens next week, but I still expect it to open in Easter and not February for various reasons which I will not go into here. Also many of the species they have said will be in Madagascar will be missing when it opens,as for various reasons they will not have arrived in the zoo.Now the other 2 have no plans for being put on show any time soon!

I could be wrong but I thought I saw it...

I'm happy to take you word for it ;)

There was also a brief glimpse of a female black lemur

Yup - there definitely was.

Why don't you just say what the three you spotted are rather being all cloak and dagger about it?

I don't think it will open until Easter either. The only real reason would be to offset the issues in Islands for half term - but I'm sure they'd rather herd kids and their parents cash towards the lego and inevitable lego related merch...

Would I be right in thinking no Sifakas to start with then? Would be nice if the Narrow-Striped Mongoose went on show in the future but probably not going to happen!

Because unlike many people on this site I would rather let the zoo have the kudos of breaking their arrival, and seeing as the zoo hasn't admitted to having them for my money what species they are it can wait!!!!

You never know you could be right in that they will have no Sifakas when it opens, unless they get a group of surplus males from Europe, but I wouldn't hold my breath on that!

As for the Narrow-striped there was a plan to get them on show but I don't know if that is still the plan!

Other than the zoo showing them on TV you mean? They must feel very strongly about keeping them secret...

I didn't even realise they were getting sifakas! Already excited about the fossa.

Yes they were mentioned in the last issue of Z magazine, although judging by zoogiraffe's post above it may not be worth getting TOO excited just yet. The same publication did also confirm the arrival of the fossas though so hopefully not long to wait until they go on show!

Yes, I can't wait!

Just a heads up that The Secret Life of the Zoo are covering the deaths of Nandita and Aayu in the last episode of the current series on Thursday 21st February. Whilst I believe its important to acknowledge what happened, as viewers have followed these two from birth, personally I won't be watching as its too upsetting, and I get the impression it could be the main story of the programme which really would be too much.
