Chester Zoo Game

Hello Macaw16 - the animal isn't an aye-aye, although I like aye-ayes and tried to get to Nosy Mangabe to see them.

It isn't a white-backed duck, Lowland Anoa.

Think about the term 'black eye' - oh what a surprise.

Four of the letters of 'python' appear in the mystery animal's genus, which has 8 letters. One of the letters appears twice.

That is an interesting idea, but wrong.

One of the colleagues of George and Geoffrey has an unusual laugh.

I don't know who George and Geoffrey are, so I'm going to say Rainbow Shiner because a "shiner" is a slang term for a black eye, and the generic name is Notropis which fits the clue you gave in post #461

Hello Swampy. You've got the 'rainbow' link to George and Geoffrey. Zippy is the link to the laughiing thrush.

Congratulations, Chlidonias. You are correct in getting the 'shiner' right. The mystery animal is a rainbow shiner - hence not a black black eye.

Well done.

oh right, now I know George and Geoffrey. If the clue had been Zippy I would have known straight away!!
