My riddle may have been too obscure. I will give some more help.

OK, I can see how the clue is a genuine clue - but I don't get the riddle at all.
Rocks don't fear scissors (although papers do, of course) - or is that the part of the riddle that isn't a clue? I think the right answer will be bearded reedling, but only when one turns up on Chester's nature reserve

the part in the quote was just a quote. The quote was how to get to the riddle.
