Anyone remember when was the last thing not approved by the council (aside from various iterations of a hotel)?Plans for the new lion enclosure and extended new foot print of the zoo have been approved by the council.
I assume that there are informal discussions before final plans are submitted. Both the zoo and the council benefit from co-operation within the proper formal process.Anyone remember when was the last thing not approved by the council (aside from various iterations of a hotel)?
Guess the council realise how important the zoo is for the area, jobs, tourists, supply chain. Bet a hotel would have no problem getting approved now, if the zoo wished for one. (On the coach park would be ideal, over looking the grassland area)
A hotel at / very near to a zoo or any other major tourist attraction makes perfect sense. Just look at how successful the Holiday Inn which shares a car park with Edinburgh Zoo is.I would Chester to have a hotel but I have this feeling in the coming years we will see some of the areas around the especially the older areas being turned in to play areas or amusement areas hope this doesn't happen but it would bring in more revenue for the zoo.

Plus a decent new Lecture Theatre is long overdue.Plus add quality conference facilities and would add to the income.

They hatched at the end of June and start of July, and were hand-reared by the amazingly dedicated bird team based in the Tropical Realm. They've now been moved to a larger area alongside the red pandas. None will stay in the collection (their destination was decided prior to rearing them). The zoo have announced the birth of 21 Caribbean flamingo chicks, from videos shared by ITV Grenada on Twitter.
