Chester Zoo Chester Zoo Headline News 2018

Utterly, utterly devastating. Such a rotten few weeks for the elephant team, so soon after Sithami's passing.
 
Terrible news, Chester are having terrible luck with their elephant herd at the moment and my thoughts are with all those involved with the animals. :(
 
That is awful news. I am going to Chester on Sunday for a couple of days at the zoo but the trip will be tinged with sadness now. How heartbreaking for those who worked with them :-(

The zoo said here, “ Sithami, 20, unexpectedly collapsed inside the zoo’s Elephants of the Asian Forest habitat at around noon today (07/09/2018). Keepers and vets immediately attended to her but unfortunately she had very suddenly passed away ”. They also said they will do a post-mortem in the days following her death to determine why she died but it seems that these results haven’t been announced to the public.

The news of this is absolutely heartbreaking, Chester has had such rotten luck with this awful disease, and I thought Nandita would be fine that perhaps the trend had been broken but alas I was wrong. I’m glad I got to see her as a few days old calf, my first proper elephant baby. Here’s hoping that Indahli and Anjan won’t succum to the same fate.

As of two weeks ago Sithami's cause of death was not yet known..
