My bad
I wonder of the zoo will announce the baby warty pigs or leave it for people to findIl
The Amazon Basin Tree Boa is now labelled, but neither myself, nor anyone else in the vicinity managed to see it. The former Tree Boa viv now houses Casque-headed Lizards and Golden Poison Frogs. Goliath Beetles now share the Blue Poison Frog viv.
A new gecko species, the Gold Dust Day Gecko, or as I prefer to call it the Broad-tailed Day Gecko is in with the Golden Mantellas.
The African butterfly fish did not stay long in the Okapi House, their place has been taken by two species of undescribed cichlids from Lake Chilingi, Lethrinops 'chilingali' and Rhamphochromis 'chilingali'. Both are believed to be extinct in the wild.
The warty pigs have 2 babies.
A new path to the peacock aviary has been laid. I expect the aviary will open for the Bank Holiday weekend.
All the crane paddocks are empty with labels saying something new is comong soon. I hope this new species is not as underwhelming as domestic goats and common peafowl.
The upper aviaires in Tropical House are still closed. Blue-naped Mousebirds are now in free-flight in there.
The caecilians have gone and Butterfly Goodeids are in their tank.
I sat on the Rainbow Lawn to have my food and got attacked by a male Mallard, he tried to bite my sandwich as I was eating. A few soft bashes on the beak with my sandwich box lid and standing up so that he could see I was about 6 times taller than he was, seemed to scare him off. This is the problem when visitors feed the wild birds. They expect everyone has food for them.
Had a great view of the Blesbok.
Entrance to Realm of the Red Ape is by a tall flight of steps on the northern side, or by the exit ramp on the south side. A photo of the steps is in the Chester agllery.
The visitor flow in the Elephant House is reversed. Entry is now by the fish tank and exit by the aviary. Quite crazy as people now have to push wheelchairs and buggys upwards to leave the house. I cannot see this as an improvement.

Was the cattle house still covered in scaffolding
This is really interesting, are the cranes now nowhere in the zoo at all? Really curious as to what will replace them. All the crane paddocks are empty with labels saying something new is comong soon. I hope this new species is not as underwhelming as domestic goats and common peafowl.
I wonder if the zoo will actually announce these ???First visit for nearly a yr had a lovely day, highlight was seeing 3 baby meerkats very young ones !
Sorry I’m not fully used to the site and don’t know what I’m doing I’ll change it nowWhat do you mean Jayden by saying "does anyone know how?"
This source says £2.8 million:How much money did the Madagascan area cost at Chester zoo?
I wonder we’re the anoa in it has goneManaged to squeeze in a visit today Here's a few notes
The new peafowl aviary by the lions is now stocked with a few male peafowl one was displaying perfectly to me by the fence
The visit also saw a two firsts for me which was the malayan tapirs outside the first time I've seen them outside since they moved to islands
And also the sloths outside
Dobby the aardvark is growing up quickly
The cattle house is still covered in scaffolding and the former malayan tapir / warthog/ anoa side is empty once again
