Chester Zoo Chester Zoo News 2024

Seen a mention of a Roloway newborn, was this confirmed as true or false? Visiting this weekend and would love to try and see it :)

That sucks :( But never say never, they could still make an appearance in the far future with one of the HoA phases

They were more likely to be brought in for the African Forests in 2028.
Could still possibly happen I recon, a lot can change financially in 4 years (plus the time it would take to actually develop the area, so lets say 6)

Chimpanzees, Orangutans, and Gorillas are vastly different in terms of looks and guest appeal, to people who go more in depth in the zoology side (any ZooChat user :p), sure they're just another great ape. But to people who aren't all that fust on specific species, the average zoo guest, gorillas would be a gigantic hit.

That's like saying did they really need snow leopards since they've already got 3 other panthera species

I guess it's one downside of the approach chester is taking, doing whole areas in one go. If they just said that area is forrests. Then build the chimps new home and a few others, then maybe add gorillas a few years later
