Can anyone confirm where in the zoo the pudu are held please?
Obviously this is taken from a comment I saw on Facebook so I'm more than willing to accept being wrong on this:
- Apparently Chester has taken on the jaguars from the South Lakes closure. I had never been to that zoo before it closed, but I thought it had leopards instead.
- The cheetahs will hopefully be arriving soon, and it was apparently confirmed by a zookeeper that it was two males. Most likely from YWP as others have previously stated / theorised.
- The new lions were supposed to arrive in the next few weeks but it's been pushed back to late November / December. The female is coming from Germany(?) and the male from London Zoo
Correct me if I'm wrong the proposed move of the Old South Lakes Jaguars. Is this Remi and Bonita ? Last I heard of these was 2024
and was not sure where they went after the zoo closed.
Yes the Jaguars in question are Remi and his mother, Bonita.Correct me if I'm wrong the proposed move of the Old South Lakes Jaguars. Is this Remi and Bonita ? Last I heard of these was 2025 and was not sure where they went after the zoo closed.
Bonita is 16 years old now, so too old to breed. And maybe Napo and Bonita as companion (non breeding pair) or is Bonita still of breeding age if another Male is brought in.
I am not sure there is any potential breeding recommendation for Inka due to her lineage/genes. Also, she appears to be aggressive to Napo and they have not been mixed and this maybe a problem with other possible 'mates'. I believe they could keep 4 separate jags in the setup at present.Thank you for confirming that Jambo. So Proposed stud book recommendation would Be Remi x Inca as potential breeding pair. And maybe Napo and Bonita as companion (non breeding pair) or is Bonita still of breeding age if another Male is brought in.

Great news - it's initially what I suspected, but there was some conflicting information mentioned on here about it instead being one of her brothers. It would have made more sense to transfer her across, as her brothers could cohabit together for a much longer period.Confirmation of Lion move from London Zoo:
A new home for Shanti
Shanti, one of three Asiatic lion cubs born at London Zoo in March 2024, will be moving to a new home at Chester Zoo in the next few weeks, as part of the conservation breeding programme. We can’t wait to see how Shanti settles at Chester Zoo.
Also suspected Leia had birthed the recent offspring following a visitor announcement earlier in this thread. The infant was born October 7, and is Leia's second offspring at Chester, following Dot's birth back in 2020.I see they've now confirmed/announced the birth of the Bornean Orangutan on their socials
RARE BORNEAN ORANGUTAN BORN!
Just look at how the little one clings to new mum Leia
This birth is a vital step forward in preventing the extinction of these critically endangered great apes
This is actually the third offspring 'Leia' has had at Chester - she had a daughter sired by 'Tuan' in May 2009 named 'Latifah', who passed away in 2014.The infant was born October 7, and is Leia's second offspring at Chester, following Dot's birth back in 2020.
No they moved on a while agoare the two tiger cubs still at chester. if they are is it not time they moved on. plenty of zoos in the uk only have 1 tiger at the moment
