Chester Zoo Chester Zoo updates *3

Chester announced their 1 millionth visitor...... Anyone know what date this was last year? Will give an idea of how visitor numbers have been affected by the awful summer weather we've had.

Just noticed the atlas moth in the zoo members magazine
Are they still there in the butterfly house
Would love to see one

Might pop there Monday afternoon anywayuts been a while since I visited the butterfly house :)

Spotted 5 Chilean Flamingo chicks today.

Has anyone else seen the Red Fronted Lemurs on the island? posted a rather poor pic in the gallery

Great about the flamingos, only 2 chicks on Tuesday, and no I've not seen the lemurs

Very true, but I do not think there were any more chicks than two, but there were plenty of eggs.

From Chester's Facebook page:
We're DELIGHTED to say our Giant Otters Icana and Xingu have pups. The pups are likely to be off show for up to six weeks as mum and dad rear them but we'll post photos here as soon as we have them.

Excellent news :) we shall have to keep our fingers crossed!

Great news on giant otters . Z magazine reports that 3 black rhinos ( Zuri , Ema and Malindi ) are pregnant and due to give birth from autumn time onwards . Also 3 elephants ( Sithami , Sundara and Thi ) are also pregnant and due to give birth later this year . They also mention the pregnancy of Stuma , the okapi .

Kudos to all the Mammal Team! :)
Hard work has paid off. It is a first and good result.
Let us wait and see how, when and where ... it all gets to.
