Australia Zoo Chimpanzees in Australia Zoo?

If your trying to be funny it isnt working. Im talking about declining number of chimpanzees in africa due to habitat destruction. If australia zoo could get some rescued chimpanzees and show/talk about the chimapnzees people would donate. Considering the large amounts of people who visit there, the chimpanzee area might make some money in aid for the chimpanzees in the wild.

Chimps will never be exported from Africa to Australia. If Australia Zoo ever wanted chimps they would have to source from Australasia.

I did tell Kalxok the way to a keeper job. I could also have not bothered to type anything out and have just said sure, you can get a chimp job. Imagine if someone did actually pack up and move house because someone told them they would get a particular job one day. Life is about being realistic, and I was being honest, he has buckleys of getting a keepers position with chimps.

erm.....where exactly does it mention anything specific about holding chimpanzees? we all know Australia Zoo want gorillas, but theyve been indicating this since at least 2003 (when they were also hinting at Sumatran Rhino too).
so if its now 2008, and Australia Zoo still hasnt got gorillas, how much longer are we going to have to wait before they even put their hands up and register their proposed interest in holding this species with ARAZPA???
a blog on their net site is not proof. unless i am skim reading and missed something vital

I was just trying to ask a question and then it goes all controversial. Ok well can anyone tell me all the zoos in australia that hold Chimpanzees? I heard that Melbourne zoo had chimps but im not sure can somebody confirm this? Thanks!

That sort of information is available freely on the net kalxok, you can find it yourself.

Im sorry but ive been googling for half an hour for info on that... :( was wondering if any of you pros knew.:(

I think zoopro already told you who has chimps anyway in this thread.

3 Zoos.

-Taronga Zoo-
-Requirements cannot be met
-Houses around there are for millionaires

-Rockhampton Zoo-
-2 chimps, 300+ staff

-Monarto Zoo-
- You said even if i worked my way up i wouldnt be able to work with the chimps.
-Only Primates in the whole zoo Chimpanzees?

-Melbourne Zoo-
-Not even sure if they have any Chimpanzees.

Rocky doesn't have 300+ staff, I have been there a lot collecting data and they have a very small zoo, but the zoo is located within the botanical gardens. Taronga has a large chimp population, Adelaide has three and Monarto has none yet.

If you read through the threads in this forum you will find lots of information.

This is great news- australia zoo getting chimpanzees- i wonder if they will be on the same flight as those sumatran rhinos.. ........

Adelaide has 3? Will these 3 be moved to the new exhibit in Monarto zoo or will they still stay?? If those 3 chimps stay is there any plans to increase the amount of Chimpanzees there?

Go read the Adelaide Zoo website.

go look at primate property from that site
