Chimpanzees in Europe

The chimpanzees at the Saarbrücker Zoo will temporarily leave the zoo. This will allow the chimpanzee enclosure to be renovated. The current three female chimpanzees will move to other European zoos. When and for how long the chimpanzees will leave the zoo is not yet known.

Could anyone tell me more about Chester zoos chimps e.g the current chimps realtions, parents /grandparents , and chimps who used to live there and how many chimps they’ve had altogether over the whole time they’ve had chimpsHey so we now have a lowland gorillas in Europe, a bonobos in Europe and an orangutans in Europe page, so there's clearly one that we're missing! This will without a shadow of a doubt be the hardest to update/get 100%, as there are around 1000 chimps currently living in Europe...! I will attempt to list them and update the list as time goes on but of course, as with any of these, if any births, deaths or transfers happen, or any new groups are formed or old groups disbanded, then please post it here! It would be very helpful!
The list will include chimps living in the UAE, Turkey, Israel and Kazakhstan, as they are included on Zootierliste. Also for anyone who is unfamiliar with the subspecies abbreviations, they are as follows:
non-sub = either a hybrid of various subspecies, untested for subspecies status or subspecies unknown
P.t.t. = central chimpanzee (Pan troglodytes troglodytes)
P.t.s = eastern chimpanzee (Pan troglodytes schweinfurthii)
P.t.e = Nigeria-Cameroon chimpanzee (Pan troglodytes ellioti)
P.t.v = western chimpanzee (Pan troglodytes verus)

Interesting; I confirmed with Chester themselves via email and they told me they had 22 which were the ones I accounted for above. Maybe they have some new arrivals then if that's the case?
They’ve had 20 since the birth of Jeff. It’s possible they have some new arrivals, but a friend who visited just a few days ago had it confirmed they had 20 so they would have to be very recent…
I emailed them a few weeks ago, so it's possible the PR member just got it wrong then. Your friend visiting recently would be far more reliable imo. Thank you for the update though.
The reports that Samantha died turned out to be false, I believe she is still alive in the main group.

It would make a whole lot of sense to send them to another facility all together. This would have to be a facility that can accommodate them in addition to their other chimps as well as introductions to other chimps would be completely out of picture if this is only a temporary move.

If I know well Krefeld Zoo will offer place for chimps soon. And Artis in Amsterdam wants to stop keeping chimps and moving its group to India.
If these are the females that will be paired with Limbo to breed than this is obviously not a ‘temporary’ move as Krefeld wish to create a new troop based around Bally and Limbo.
It’s been previously mentioned on here re. the Artis chimps although a destination has not been specifically mentioned. It’s not uncommon for zoos to offload their surplus chimps to India; although it’s a shame a home couldn’t be found for them elsewhere as they are quite valuable chimps.
Agreed if they really are set to return to Saarbrücken. It will be very difficult to find someone taking in chimpanzees, not to mention three of them together. However, I don't see a sense in a return. The situation with chimps is that they are very hard to integrate and most keepers are happy if their group works somehow without major trouble, so they do not risk anything. The number of holders will decline significantly in the future. Thus an empty enclosure is a unique chance to establish a new group and bloodline.
