Chimpanzees in Europe

Recently (today?) a Western common chimpanzee (Pan troglodytes verus) was born!
Mother and young are doing well.

According to a news article, the baby was born last Friday. And according to Beekse Bergen's press release, it is the first young for the 9-year-old mother. If I am correct, Lily is the only 9-year-old female at Beekse Bergen, so she should be the mother.

Jambo arrived to Plzen in 2023 from Badoca Safari Parc (Portugal), however, due to his health issues and other factors, he couldn't be integrated into the group and so the decision was made to move him elsewhere.
Hello,
Badoca seems to have no chimpanzees anymore. Does anyone know where the other chimps went to?

50-year-old chimpanzee male Dingo has died at Safari Park Dvur Kralove. He was found dead on January 3rd. Investigations revealed that he died of severe internal organ injuries, probably caused by a fall or fight. Changes in Dingo's behaviour were already noticed on the morning of January 1st. He was separated from the group and an examination was scheduled.

The zoo assumes that the cause for the fall or fight was due to being scared and/or excited by the fireworks on New Year's Eve.

On the recommendation of the EEP, chimpanzee males Tombe and Tumba will move from Colchester Zoo to Belfast Zoo on 23 January. The move is taking place because a new male chimpanzee is coming to Colchester to create a breeding group. This new male is 27-year-old Western chimp Napoleon from Bioparc Fuengirola. He will move to Colchester Zoo sometime in early 2025.

I believe for the moment (until that move takes place) the Colchester Zoo troop looks something like this. I have compiled it with things the zoo themselves have put out and also what has been said here on zoochat.

0:1 Tara (8/10/1985) George x Billy-Joe
1:0 Tombe (2/8/1996) Bobby x Mandy
0:1 Kora (26/11/1999) Bobby x Billy-Joe
1:0 Tumba (5/12/2004) Pippin x Tekita
0:1 Talia (14/3/2009) Pippin x Tekita

Some previous troop members who have passed since the exhibit was redveloped:

0:1 Tekita (1/2/1996-1/12/2020) Bobby x Tara
1:0 Pippin (23/3/1986-9/9/2019) Bimbo x Coco (Twycross born)
0:1 Billy-Joe (~1975-1/3/2018)

I know Bobby was Oscar x Coco (Twycross born) but not sure how long he was at Colchester, he certainly doesn't seem to have died in the last 15-20 years. For some reason in the zoo's news article from yesterday it states that Tombe is the father of Talia, which seems to be either a very recent discovery or an accident.

Sad news from Artis, last Thursday the zoo's oldest chimpanzee (Pan troglodytes schweinfurthii or troglodytes) was euthanised. Margot was 54 years old and suffered from age-related illnesses, her condition deteriorated and the decision was made to euthanise her.
Margot has lived most her life in Artis, she originally came from the wild and arrived at Artis at a young age.
Currently Artis has 3 males and 4 females left.

Donna from Zoo am Meer in Bremerhaven has been moved to Copenhagen Zoo, she was originally born in Chester Zoo and moved to Zoo am Meer in late 2015 with her mother Lizzy.
The ape house at the zoo is currently closed until further notice. I managed to see her very briefly through one of the windows today. I'm excited to see her get more used to her new envoirment and for when she can begin to be introduced to the other chimps!

I made a gorilla, orangutan and bonobo list every year and update them on my own about the news from here and zoos social media news. Does anybody also make an updated chimpanzees list? And is it possible that he/she could share it with me please?

28-year-old male Tombe, who recently moved from Colchester Zoo to Belfast Zoo, has died. His cause of death is still under investigation but it is suspected that he suffered a heart attack.

New male Napoleon arrived at Colchester Zoo on April 2nd.
