Chittagong Zoo

this is actually a good example of why pedantry in taxonomic areas is good. Everyone on here knows that most or all "Bengal tigers" outside India are "zoo mix" hybrids. But because the zoos themselves promote their animals as Bengal tigers (mostly, I suspect, because they don't know any different) then it is easy to get this situation where a zoo in Bangladesh imports hybrid animals, and then they get bred to pure Bengals and then their offspring get distributed unknowingly to other zoos in India.

A similar situation is the one reported on here a short while ago, where it seems like Hanoi Zoo imported "Indochinese tigers" from the Czech Republic for breeding, which were probably Malayan tigers.

Chli, the latter news from Hanoi - Czech Republic has been publicly discounted. No Malayan or IndoChinese tigers involved. Hybrid Bengals .... too.
