Christmas Photo Quiz

This quiz is a little different from the ones I have posted in the Photography Forum and I have compiled a Christmas crossword to follow it, so I have decided to post it in this Forum.
This is just intended to be a bit of Christmas fun. The photos show the eye(s) of 9 animals photographed in zoos, 2 in the wild and 1 museum specimen. Identifying the species is important, but in some cases you do not need to know the exact species and in others you also need to find extra information in the photo. In several cases the correct answer does not contain an English word.
11 of the photos have something in common. What is different about the twelfth? What can you deduce from this odd one out?
I think that some of the answers are quite easy, but others are rather hard: but as always if you can work out the link between the photos, it makes the difficult identifications rather easier.
What do you think?
Click on the image above to go to the Miscellaneous Gallery and enlarge it to see all the photos at full size; but please post your answers in this thread.

I'll agree with your theme, but number two must surely be snow leopard?

I'm still trying to locate the Chlidonias though...

9 is a Black Rhino I think.

7 looks like a Trumpeter Hornbill or similar to me, but it could be a Magpie Goose I guess.

1) Maguari Stork (Maguari)

9) Black Rhino (Kifaru Bwana)
10) Grey Seal (SealPup)
11) Western Lowland Gorilla (Pertinax)
12) Wolverine (gulogulogulo)

Still don't know what the 6th photo is of, nor which Zoochatter it is affiliated with, but I will say that the theme is that every photo represents a Zoochatter, and the odd one out is the Mauritus Kestrel which represents Carl Jones - but NOT because of his username unlike all the others, rather because of his role in saving the species from extinction.
