It is indeed very sad to see the way that Cincinnati is going. At their current rate, they are becoming a glorified Children's Zoo and Bird Zoo

yeah, it was exciting for awhile when Africa opened and hippos returned. The development of the front lot into animal space was something that had been discussed for a long time, and seeing come to fruition was wonderful.

Unfortunately, it's been all downhill from that point. I think Wildlife Canyon being turned into a kangaroo walk through pushed it over the edge for me. It's the ultimate in the "remember when" category now. Remember when this area housed some of the rarest animals in the country? Yeah, now it's a petting zoo with a zipline. Yay.

The zoo's male Aardvark "Diggy" passed away today at 26 years old.

Can you maybe check to see if the Chinese Alligators are on exhibit? The past times I’ve gone they have been off-exhibit.

Everything is open, the only thing that I saw that wasn't was the Elephant House - but that was a month ago.
The aardwolves are still there and I've never failed to see to them. Other species are: Tawny frogmouth, Pallas' Cat, Bearcat, Potto, Vampire Bat, Aardvark, Greater Bushbaby (have only seen twice), Indian Flying Fox, Ocelot, Three-banded Armadillo, Black-footed Cat, Sand Cat, Ringtail, Clouded Leopard, Large-spotted Genet, Fennec, Bobcat

I was wondering when the White Pelicans that were supposed to be on exhibit at the new Penguin Point would show up. Turns out they kept escaping, and are now in the secondary Polar bear exhibit.

It is a temporary move considering that area is still part of the master plan. It's also somewhat nice because the zoo didn't have to dig into that budget to make any adjustments before major renovations. I'd much rather have birds there than an empty exhibit, or worse, a Polar bear still there.
