They still have another female, ZolaIn rather sad news, according to the member page on Facebook, the zoos black footed cat, named Nadine has passed away.
If I’m not mistaken I believe she was the last black footed cat at the zoo.
I easily overlook things when it comes to... well, anything, so am I seeing it correctly that there is actually no mention of babirusa anymore? While searching the zoo blogs and whatnot I came across a page for the zoos 150th anniversary, which not only goes over the past but also addresses the future: Celebrating 150 Years of the Cincinnati Zoo - Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden
Here are some noteworthy things on the article:
- There is a really cool “slide show” showcasing events, milestones, achievements, and overall history of the zoo
- The new habitat being built in Jungle Trails, which is being called “New World Primates”, will (as anticipated) be an exhibit for White Faced Saki, Black Howler Monkeys, and Golden Headed Lion Tamarins. There is also a rendering provided.
- As most of us know Siamang Point, phase 2 of Elephant Trek, will be housing Siamangs, Asian Small Clawed Otters, Rhinoceros Hornbills, and Babirusa but we are given a new rendering in this article
- There will be a new “Nature Exploration Area” next to Black Bear Ridge, with a rendering being provided
-Lastly there is a new rendering for Sea Otter Coast
Oh shoot! You’re right lol. I also completely overlooked the fact they scratched Babirusa. If I had to guess the exhibit either came out to be too small for both species or they scratched them since small clawed otters are notoriously territorial, or a mix of both.I easily overlook things when it comes to... well, anything, so am I seeing it correctly that there is actually no mention of babirusa anymore?
Few things I’d like to note, it states under the sea otter coast section, that there will be more besides the bears and otters. The monkey habitat and siamang point are said to open this spring and bear ridge in the fall. Shame that babirusas aren’t included any more. Also, is there any idea if the blue duikers will ever go on habitat or is that likely a future or bts thing? While searching the zoo blogs and whatnot I came across a page for the zoos 150th anniversary, which not only goes over the past but also addresses the future: Celebrating 150 Years of the Cincinnati Zoo - Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden

I remember there being talks of birds or a North American porcupine at the top of the hill for the third exhibit. However, I visited the zoo last week and so far that area doesn't look like it has much room left for either of those. I wonder if it's referring to the Arctic fox exhibit - whether the foxes return or a new species will replace them.Few things I’d like to note, it states under the sea otter coast section, that there will be more besides the bears and otters. Where was the arctic fox exhibit? I recall them previously having them but I don’t recall where.I remember there being talks of birds or a North American porcupine at the top of the hill for the third exhibit. Right next to the now future sea otter underwater viewing.Where was the arctic fox exhibit? I recall them previously having them but I don’t recall where.
It's still there and still houses a Pallas's cat.Does anyone know if the small exhibit outside Night Hunters still exists. I didn’t see it on the new zoo map so I was wondering if it was still there.
Does Cincinnati still have Bobcats? It's still there and still houses a Pallas's cat.
They have not for a few years.Does Cincinnati still have Bobcats?
Thank you MoebelleThey have not for a few years.

What will happen to the current wolf exhibit?Last, but not least.. I know on the map the zoo stated that the former white lion habitat would be transformed into a Mexican Wolf exhibit but had never heard anything more. This graphic was blocking one of the paths to the boardwalk where the white lions use to be. I’m interested to see how this plays out, it looks like there is a structure of some kind. I expect this to be a project in the years to come, as they have not started construction at all.
