As per their Facebook, the Sea otters are on display.

'You otter get to the Zoo!
Southern sea otters Chloe and Kevin explored Sea Otter Coast this morning for the first time and can now be seen by visitors at the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden. The Zoo is home to two other otter species, Asian small-clawed otters and North American river otters, but this is the first time it has housed Southern sea otters, listed as threatened under the Endangered Species Act.'

Missed them by two days!

From my visit on Sunday... first time seeing Bear Ridge with bears! For how much flack the exhibit got across this website, it sure is a lot of fun with two cubs. Will there always be cubs having fun in there? Certainly not. However, it's still a really good exhibit and the sight lines are great. It'll be even better once all the trees fill in.

On the other hand, it was also my first time seeing the small-clawed otters in Elephant Trek with the babirusa. Wasn't impressed. I don't know if it's the lack of trees around the exhibit or what, but it really feels like an afterthought compared to the siamangs and hornbills in the same area.

The bear exhibit is fantastic and so much better than I was expecting. The horticulture team did an incredible job and it reminds me a lot of Hocking Hills State Park. Even though it is smaller in total land area I do find it to be a superior exhibit to Columbus' new North America. Much more natural and actually looks like southern Ohio, not a manicured lawn.

One of the fennec foxes exhibits in the nocturnal house is now home to a large spotted genet the remaining one has paper on it so you can't see them
also the second pallas cat exhibit in the nocturnal house is open again it was closed since December 2024 I believe
