Was wondering wat would happen to ciircus animals if the use of animals in circuses was banned.

The great british circus is touring at the moment with a variety of animals , here is a list of wat i think they have or have had .

3 elephants
5 lions
8 tigers
6 or 8 bactrian camels
4 llamas
4 reindeer and they own more
1 zebra and used to have three others
1 red kangaroo but dont think its touring

They also have several horses ,ponies, dogs and other domestic stock.
They may also have other animals in different places or at there winter quaters.

The same thing that would happen to zoo animals: Either found a new home (zoo or circus), or be euthanised. I don't think it would be made though illegal because of that reason, and the DEFRA report on how their stress levels are no worse than zoo animals.

Several of the animals listed could probably be found homes fairly easily, such as the llamas, probably the camels (since there's a centre in Norfolk/Suffolk? Elvis of Longleat was sent sent there), the reindeer, kangaroo and zebra(s).

The bigger animals would probably present the biggest challenge, I think, esp. as the predators are "tamed" (and thus, I gather, more dangerous (?)). That and the tigers, unless they're pure, would take up space for pure breeding pairs in zoos, so I doubt many places would want to take them in. The elephants usually seem to get rescued by zoos, but in this day and age (recession, enclosure size debate), that might no be so certain.

There isn't a terribly large amount of circus's here in australia with preforming animals. After Arna killed her keeper last year from stardust circus the only circus that keeps any large animal ( elephants in this case) is Perry bros.
I know that Circus Krone keeps quite a large amount of animals. Not nearly as much as they used to but still quite a large number.

I have to say also my guess would be that the animals would leave to the nearest animal facility being a zoo, wild animal park or a sanctuary . There have been cases that circuses import animals but then later find out they aren't able to be tamed very easily and so they give them to a zoo.
