Susie’s Bear Hollow at CMZ Update
They were working on the roof when I was there last week. They're also working on the outdoor exhibits. What is going on in front of Primate, Cat, and Aquatic? I noticed the fence in this photo and I was curious.

Willy the elephant has died.
Kebi Moyo has given birth.
He arrived in Cleveland in 2010 and was 31 at the time, so he was 44.How old was Willy?
Given how an elephant night quarters extension is on the cards, they are probably thinking of elephants in the long term. Now I wonder if Cleveland will get another bull to replace him or if they'll wait until our cows start moving on and restart with a younger herd
Most likely they will wait until the four cows move on before getting a new bull elephant. All of their cows are post-reproductive. I’d say that it is likely that once two or three of the cows pass, the remaining elephant(s) will be moved, and then Cleveland will restart with a new herd. Now I wonder if Cleveland will get another bull to replace him or if they'll wait until our cows start moving on and restart with a younger herd
Exact same thing with me, those were the animals I was determined to see when I visited. When I visited in 2013, I swear I saw old Blackie off in the distance inside the Giraffe barn and that made me so happy. It was the final time that I saw him in 20+ visits in the zoo, and I too was so saddened by his passing despite the fact that he lived to sixty-one years of age.View attachment 638347
Rest in Peace Willy. You were absolutely amazing and the highlight of every zoo visit. This is honestly on the same level as losing Blackie the Nile Hippo to me. Both were the first animal I'd run to and absolutely fill my photo gallery (or my mom's camera back in the day) with.

Thank you Willie. He was a very magnificent male elephant. I remember seeing him wrestling with female elephant. Always looked forward to viewing him. He will be missedView attachment 638347
