Cleveland Metroparks Zoo Cleveland Metroparks Zoo News 2024

Last wolf's guenons should have left Cleveland in 2015. That's not to say they couldn't have returned, but I would be surprised (in a good way) if they did. I'm going to take @Baryonyx's word for it though since Wolf's Guenons are a fairly unmistakable primate species that's fairly difficult to misidentify.
Is the Wolf's guenon program still supported by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums or are they recommended for phase-out?

The last list of PCA has:
- Aye Aye
- Pygmy Slow Loris
- Moholi Bush Baby
In the nocturnal section. I'll be sure to check next time I'm at the zoo.
I also saw a sign for Northern Tree Shrews, although I have never seen them in that exhibit. Only ever saw them in the exhibit by the entrance to the Primate section.

Went to Cleveland today. Here's what was new/worth reporting-

  • Flamingo exhibit reopened but only thing on display were Bar Headed Geese
  • Ruskin the Red Panda, V the Black Bear and Onion the Seal were no shows.
  • Misha the new female Snow Leopard was on display. She's much smaller and more active than Sombra and that makes her easier to distinguish. A male is on the way but the employee I spoke with didn't know when he is supposed to arrive.
  • 2/4 exhibits at the entrance of The RainForest were signed off exhibit.
  • Golden Lion Tamarin no showed in RF but they were in PC&A
  • Tiger Ratsnake was off exhibit
I believe the old shark tank in PCA has reopened to freshwater fish too.
Shark tank is still closed. I saw a few months ago that its been pretty much gutted back there. If I had to guess the next time it has animals is if a major overhaul of PC&A happens.

Shark Tank will not be reopened those guys got moved to an aquarium in another state (Tennessee if I’m not mistaken?)

Looks like they confirmed that Dino Cove will stick around for the Lantern Festival! And the Swan Boats sound like they'll be operational at night - definitely have to try that.

We're such absolute suckers for this event lmao

Lanterns look amazing this year and they are still being set up! Dino will stay for entire event and possibly after it. Swans will be around until November just like the train
