Vergel Safari Park Closure

This particular park exemplifies the old Iberian way of looking after and at wild animals. Very unimaginative presentation of the animal collection, nor is the species assemblage really very interesting. Bit haphazard and stale exhibits too.
It is no coincidence the Safari Park Vergel has been virtually usurped by places like Terra Natura and Bioparc Valencia (the term biopark is so uppity and modern that SPV is a poor competitor).
I do sincerely hope they can find good homes for the 460+ individual animals on site. Same goes for the animal care staff.
One suggestion: please send that lone female white rhino to Zoo Madrid. The zoo then potentially would own 2 females of breeding age.

The female white rhino has been transferred to Terra Natura MURCIA.
They are now trying to source a male for breeding purposes.
At Vergel Safari she was with a mate while on import, alas the male died. She has been alone ever since and now 24 (Hodenhagen breeding line).
