They're fennec foxes, and are tagged as such on their social media.
The zoo just acquired a Patagonian Mara that will be an animal ambassador. I saw this from a post on their Instagram and it looks like he's visible to the public. Possibly the enclosure near the Fishing Cats or the one near the Tigers.
Just visited. Here are some updates.
- I didn’t see the paca and there were no signs for it.
It wasn’t even in the holding building.
- There’s a Speckled Pigeon in the small exhibit near the Harris’ Hawks.
There's a couple of photos on google from last month.
The North American Porcupine has moved into the White-nosed Coati exhibit and the Great Horned Owl is gone.
On March 17th, 2023, the zoo announced they acquired a (1.0) northern raccoon named Dobby which is now on exhibit.

I think that's actually a color mutation of the Rosy-faced Lovebird.

I heard about this story and I am almost 100% certain that this woman was either drunk, on drugs, or has very severe mental health issues, because one or more of those 3 is almost always a common factor for the why people end up doing weird things like this.
You forgot to mention a more plausible, common explaination: stupidity. People are dumb, not just in NJ, US of A.
An increasing number of people is able to do a lot of stupid things every day without having to rely on substance abuse or mental illness. These aspects can, however, act as very powerful catalysts for even more stupid actions.
On November 18th, the zoo announced they had been donated a new terrarium for their crested gecko. On January 13th, 2025, the zoo announced they had been donated a new terrarium for their large ambassador snakes (species(s) not specified).
