Birds

Reptiles

Amphibians

Fishes

The zoo doesn't seem to publish the actual contents of animal stocktake - this is what I noticed from my visit yesterday, arranged roughly in the order I see them in on my standard route around the zoo:

Amphibians:
1. Yellow-banded poison-dart frog
2. Green-and-black poison-dart frog
3. Trinidad stream frog
4. Bony-headed toad
5. False tomato frog

The blue poison-dart and ornate horned frog used to live in the Discovery Centre before it was closed and I am not sure if they have been rehomed elsewhere in the zoo. Likewise, I do not know if the blue-legged mantellas from Kingdom of the Wild remain at the zoo.

Birds:
1. Humboldt penguin
2. Crested wood partridge
3. Victoria crowned pigeon
4. Domestic turkey
5. Blue crane
6. Grey crowned crane
7. Common ostrich
8. African white-backed vulture
9. Ruppell's griffon vulture
10. Black-headed weaverbird
11. Andean condor
12. Great grey owl
13. King vulture
14. Wreathed hornbill
15. Chilean flamingo
16. Southern rufous hornbill
17. Northern rufous hornbill

Quite a few birds, both from the original list and from Zootierliste, are no longer present - now that the free-flight bird show has been cancelled many of the birds of prey are gone and I am not sure if the scarlet macaws are still present behind the Sensation Station. I didn't see any chickens or domestic guineafowl yesterday and the fantail doves in Familiar Friends are definitely gone. The Darwin's rhea has either left already or is reduced to one individual off-show. There haven't been Dalmatian pelicans for quite a few years now.

Fish:
1. Bristle-tail filefish
2. Chalk bass
3. Black pacu
4. Pearl cichlid
5. Red gibbiceps catfish
6. Peppered corydoras
7. Delphax corydoras
8. Bronze corydoras
9. Silver dollar
10. Freshwater angelfish
11. Banded archerfish
12. Tinfoil barb
13. Rosy barb
14. Clown loach
15. Blue-green chromis
16. Sea goldie
17. Regal tang
18. Blackspotted pufferfish
19. Regal tang
20. Pennant butterflyfish
21. Azure damselfish
22. Common roach
23. European minnow
24. Koi carp
25. Domestic goldfish
26. Taiwan bitterling
27. Alkali cichlid
28. Cobalt blue zebra cichlid
29. Fairy cichlid
30. Lombardo's African cichlid
31. Slender tapir cichlid
32. Snowflake moray eel
33. Lattice soldierfish
34. White-spotted pufferfish
35. Lake Victoria cichlid
36. West African lungfish
37. Red-lined torpedo barb
38. Rainbow sharkminnow
39. Boeseman's rainbowfish
40. Dwarf rainbowfish
41. Butterfly splitfin
42. Tiger barb

There are almost certainly some missing fish species - I think there are at least a couple I missed in the Kingdom of the Wild marine tank and also the unidentified suckermouth catfishes living in the slender-snouted crocodile pool.

Invertebrates:
1. Madagascar hissing cockroach
2. Macleay's spectre stick insect
3. West African giant land snail

There are definitely more species than this - there were three tanks of invertebrates in the new Discovery Den plus there are two other displays in the Sensation Station I could not see into which may house more species. Definitely gone are the corals and shrimps from the coral aquarium in Orangutan Forest.

Mammals:
1. Buffy-headed capuchin
2. Coppery titi monkey
3. Golden-headed lion tamarin
4. Linne's two-toed sloth
5. Pied tamarin
6. Golden lion tamarin
7. Geoffroy's marmoset
8. Southern tamandua
9. Red-backed bearded saki monkey
10. Common squirrel monkey
11. Patagonian sea lion
12. Bornean orangutan
13. Malayan sun bear
14. Colombian black spider monkey
15. Cherry-crowned mangabey
16. Barbary macaque
17. Meerkat
18. African lion
19. Fennec fox
20. Domestic pig
21. Domestic brown rat
22. Domestic goat
23. Domestic sheep
24. Alpaca
25. Llama
26. Red-necked wallaby
27. Spotted hyaena
28. Mandrill
29. Blue duiker
30. Common warthog
31. Kirk's dik-dik
32. Cheetah
33. L'Hoest's guenon
34. Red river hog
35. Southern white rhinoceros
36. Reticulated giraffe
37. Maneless zebra
38. Greater kudu
39. Pygmy hippopotamus
40. African elephant
41. Aardvark
42. Rock hyrax
43. Bush dog
44. Siberian tiger
45. Visayan warty pig
46. Philippine spotted deer
47. Eurasian wolf
48. Lion-tailed macaque
49. Pileated gibbon
50. Red panda
51. Amur leopard
52. Giant anteater
53. Binturong
54. Asian small-clawed otter
55. Ring-tailed lemur
56. Red-bellied lemur
57. Crowned lemur
58. Black-and-white ruffed lemur
59. Gelada
60. Smooth-coated otter
61. Chimpanzee
62. Guinea pig

This is probably the list closest to the actual total although there is almost certainly one or two missing species - I think they still have the large hairy armadillos that are used in animal encounter sessions although they aren't on general view.

Reptiles:
1. Green iguana
2. Yellow-footed tortoise
3. Green anaconda
4. Rhinoceros iguana
5. Fiji banded iguana
6. Solomon Island skink
7. Giant Asian pond turtle
8. African spurred tortoise
9. Aldabra giant tortoise
10. African rock python
11. Giant plated lizard
12. Sahara spiny-tailed lizard
13. Pancake tortoise
14. Fire skink
15. Leopard tortoise
16. West African mud turtle
17. Madagascar tree boa
18. Blue-tongued skink
19. Royal python
20. Radiated tortoise
21. Red-eared terrapin
22. Burmese python
23. Green tree monitor
24. Gariau forest dragon
25. Spiny turtle
26. Slender-snouted crocodile

Again, there have been some changes - the yellow-margined box turtle is unsigned (although there was a picture of one with a yellow-footed tortoise uploaded to Instagram at some point fairly recently), the bearded dragon and corn snake from Sensation Station and green anoles from the Discovery Centre were not in evidence and the Cuban crocodile and Nile monitor have both been absent for some time. Also, I am not sure to what extent the zoo keeps the red-eared terrapins or whether they are feral animals - I have seen at least one on the nature reserve adjacent to the zoo.

It may be that the remaining invertebrates left the zoo after the Discovery Centre closed, but this is roughly what they had at the time of closing:

- Desert locust
- Mexican red-kneed tarantula
- Giant spiny stick insect
- Ghana speckled-leg millipede
- African sun beetle
- Brazilian salmon pink tarantula

I can't remember if they still had the Tanzanian tailless whip-scorpion when the Discovery Centre closed.

Thanks again for your work on this DesertRhino150. Based on your info, my own observations, and recent 2022 observations made on this forum, I've managed to scrape together what I think may be the most up to date list based on the species count numbers of 2021. I'm aware the list might be smaller by now, but I'm trying to ascertain what it would have been at the time of the stocklist. I'm missing 1 fish species, but I've posted below what it could be. Until it is spotted by visitors, it's a game of deduction. Feel free to make any corrections, some of the Sensation Station mammals are speculative. Also please correct any wrong locations, some of these are based on guesswork and faulty memory. I did see the stingray when I was there a couple of months ago, so I've included it. I'm guessing the piranhas were part of the 2021 stocktake too.

No problem on the information; I don't mind checking through things. I have included some corrections or additional information regarding locations:

Mammals:
Coppery Titi - as well as Worlds Apart, also occurs in the South America Walkthrough (next to Iguana Forest)
Golden Lion Tamarin - occurs in Worlds Apart rather than Heart of the Amazon
Golden-headed Lion Tamarin - occurs in the South America Walkthrough and possibly also at Leopards of Ussuri Falls, rather than Worlds Apart
Guianan Bearded Saki - as well as Inca Trail, also occurs in Heart of the Amazon
Linnaeus's Two-toed Sloth - does occur in Worlds Apart but is also in the South America Walkthrough, rather than Heart of the Amazon
Yellow-breasted Capuchin - occurs in a standalone exhibit simply called Capuchin Monkeys rather than Heart of the Amazon

Reptiles:
Common Box Turtle - were in Iguana Forest but have now almost certainly gone
Gariau Forest Dragon and Spiny Turtle - live in a mixed enclosure along Billy-Joe's Walk (part of Chimpanzee Lookout) rather than Wilds of Asia

Fishes:
Alkali Cichlid - in Koi Niwa rather than Kingdom of the Wild
Banded Archerfish - in both Wilds of Asia and Orangutan Forest, rather than Worlds Apart
Bristle-tail Filefish - as well as Orangutan Forest, also in Worlds Apart
Cobalt Blue Zebra Cichlid - in Koi Niwa rather than Kingdom of the Wild
Eurasian Minnow - in the pond at Bears of the Rising Sun, rather than Koi Niwa
Fairy Cichlid - in Koi Niwa rather than Kingdom of the Wild
Lombardo's African Cichlid - in Koi Niwa as well as Kingdom of the Wild
Roach - in the pond at Bears of the Rising Sun, rather than Koi Niwa
Rosy Barb - in Orangutan Forest as well as Wilds of Asia
Slender Tapir Cichlid - in Koi Niwa rather than Kingdom of the Wild
Tiger Barb - in Chimpanzee Lookout rather than Wilds of Asia

Thanks again, I've updated my records! I'll see if I can plan a visit in the foreseeable future and track down the elusive fish. It's probably from the Kingdom of the Wild marine tank.
