Cologne Zoo Cologne Zoo News

Last year's cub was a male and was sent to Todd Dalton / Feral Project by the end of the year, the cub of this year also appears to be male.

Great news! The population (at least a couple of years ago) was/is female-biased, so a few males are welcome.

The zoo received a sum of 350.000 euros from the Friends of the Zoo Association to build the new Coquerel sifakas exhibit. First step, an indoor facility will be built in the old elephants house with three enclosures. It will be finished for the end of summer. Second step, the old outdoor elephant paddocks will be refurbished and connected to provide good climbing opportunities for the animals.
First the Zoo will house two animals.

Unsure, probably too early. But the article mentioned the area would be used for endangered bear species. Sun bear was mentioned ...

A late reaction: according to their masterplan the old bear dens will be replaced by a aviary for Humbold pinguin and spectacled bear enclosures.

The sunbear will be housed in the present gorilla enclosure, once these primates are moved to their new Congo exhibit.
