Columbus Zoo and Aquarium Columbus Zoo News 2017

"Rudy" and "Sunny", the two young Asian elephant cows received from Ringling in the fall, are now on display together in the indoor exhibit. No word yet as to when they will have access to the outdoor yards or when they will be introduced to the rest of the herd.

From photos posted on social media they have been on public display for at least 2-3 weeks indoors.

Hopefully Hank and/or Beco will give the girls a "proper welcome" soon enough.

After messaging the zoo on Facebook, I've learned that the sun bears have been moved to a different AZA facility. Anybody know which?

Twin seven-month-old African leopard cubs have gone on exhibit in Congo Expedition. They were brought to the zoo from an unnamed facility when their mother was unable to care for them.

Well that's exciting. You don't see African leopard cubs in US zoos every day.

Polar bear cubs:
Anana's cub is a daughter, and they made their debut today.
Aurora's twins are a male and a female and will make their debut tomorrow.

The zoo put up a post on their Facebook feed about adding a female eagle owl named Eos to the Markhor exhibit and later a male bird, but now I can not find the post anymore.

If it is an unnamed facility in the United States, then I am virtually certain they are subspecies hybrids and NOT African leopards. In my experience, most non accredited zoos in the United States call their leopards African, for unknown reasons.
