This is good to see, as Columbus has no other amusement park areas. Families have to go to Kings Island or Cedar Point. A couple more flat rides or another smaller roller coaster and JJL can hold its own as an afternoon destination. Could be similar to a smaller version of a Waldameer-like park.
This article states that Adventure Cove (a pinniped exhibit) will cost $40 million and take up 7 acres. Part of that cost is via the inclusion of additional buildings and the whole thing will open in 2020. Also, there is apparently going to be an acrylic tube through the sea lion pool:

Does anyone know if Heart of Africa and Australia have opened up for the year yet? If not when does it usually open?
Heart of Africa does not usually open fully until the middle of May, but it depends on weather patterns. The staff needs consistent warm and dry days to reintroduce the hoofstock to the savanna. I do not know about Australian and The Islands.

Heart of africa didnt open til end of may last year, however i saw a post saying they may open it in april depending on weather

Hopefully that is the case this year; however, they were thinking it would open mid-April last year too, but the weather was not consistent enough for the proper reintroduction process.

Yeah, i plan on going to the easter egg enrichment event so we'll see. Would be cool if they open it by then.
Last year, the lions and vervets were out in their main exhibits and the zebras and three giraffes were in the feeding yard. Introductions were still going on for the other hoofstock in the main yard. Hopefully you will be able to see at least something even if the exhibit is not full open by then.
The new Tasmanian devils exhibit looks like it's pretty much done and ready to go. The outdoor koala space is still there and wasn't affected by the devils' yard. Also, the new paratrooper ride is already standing.
Have they had any report of a sloth bear cub yet when I went last year they had just acquired a female they were using the exhibit that use to have sun beard if I am not mistaken it's a shame they got rid of sun bears that looked like a awesome exhibit for them

I highly doubt the tiger’s actual name is “Milk Baby”. Keepers often come up with their own identifiers to help them keep track of who’s who. That’s what I’m assuming is the reasoning behind this name. Later on, zoos normally name animals from suggestions from donors, members, and staff.
