Recently a female Western common chimpanzee (Pan troglodytes verus) was born.

Today a Hippopotamus (Hippopotamus amphibius) was born.

It needs major expansion, it really is not a good enclosure for the polar bears which is disappointing considering it's only a decade old.

I visited in August, what isn't immediately obvious is the large indoor area to the right of the exhibit. The small sections don't look great individually but they connect together to make a reasonable size space. One of the bears had an unpleasant looking skin disorder which gives it black 'boils'.

They have three adults and two juveniles as of the end of August.

At the start of October 1 female gave birth to 5 Lions (Panthera leo), 3 males and 2 females.

I was at Copenhagen Zoo last month (at the end of December). I asked the bird curator about the
Tasmanian native-hen (Tribonyx mortierii). The species is expected to arrive by the summer of 2025. There was some confusion in the past about the species already being there because the sign was up, but that was a mistake from the construction department.
